LVAD Therapy
LVAD Therapy
A left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is recommended for patients with end-stage heart failure. The LVAD device is a surgically implanted, battery-operated, mechanical pump, which assists the left ventricle (main pumping chamber of the heart) in pumping blood across the entire body.
LVAD Therapies
Bridge-to-transplant
This life-saving therapy is used for patients awaiting a heart transplant until a heart becomes available. In some cases, the LVAD is able to restore the failing heart, eliminating the need for a transplant.
Destination therapy
When a resident is deemed unsuitable for a heart transplant long-term, LVAD therapy is administered to prolong and improve their quality of life.
Wayne maintains a staff of skilled therapists proficient in administering these vital therapies.
